The housing corporation recently approved funding for installation and operation of a wireless network. This network is shared infrastructure for use by undergraduates in the fraternity house. The footprint of the wireless network extends from the interior of the house into portions of the yard. This network now allows undergraduates of Sigma Mu to operate a computer at LAN speeds approaching 11 Mbs and internet speeds of 1.5 Mbs.

This network was configured and installed by Kirk Donahoe and Robert Cook.

This milestone makes the Sigma Mu chapter of Phi Gamma Delta the first fraternity at Mississippi State to utilize a wireless network.

This network is compatible with ongoing plans by the university to deploy wireless network technologies. See this related link for details.
