Undergraduate Reports

Brad Paczak, President’s Report

No report. {Note: Grade results were reported prior to the meeting. http://www.msfiji.com/five%20points/scholarship/scholarship.html }

Wesley Jackson, Treasurers Report

No report. {Note: Omega Financials will be employed to assist with the collection of dues in the fall. In general, summer dues have not been paid.}

Craig Chapman, Corresponding Secretary / Pig Dinner

Working on materials for rush. Michael Page bought a HP-5SE laser printer in a silent auction at work for $200 (retail $4500). The undergraduates have determined that if they bought a printer, instead of paying Copy Cow repro costs, they can do mailings faster and cheaper. This equates to a two-month payback. Rush information is being generated and coordinated with Kirk Donahoe.

Kirk Donahoe, Rush Chairman

A rush party is planned for Jackson. Only 17 people have submitted applications for rush. Rush workshop will be held fines will be enforced. Kirk is making the “rush presentation” for Fall Rush. This too will save costs associated with outsourcing this task.

Undergraduates will be purchasing rush t-shirts for themselves and rushees.

Kirk Donahoe, House Chairman

Tommy Halstead quit the chapter. Kirk Donahoe is now House Chairman.

Broken panes of glass upstairs (2) and downstairs (3) will be replaced in the next few days. Lighting is out in new addition of house. Must be a breaker in a box outside locked in the storage areas. Some lighting needs to be replaced around the back of the fence. Kirk will talk to builder.

Bill Shearer, Pledge Education

No report.

Graduate Reports

Fundraising/Graduate Relations

A graph of the current mortgage has been posted on the graduate web site http://www.msfiji.com/msfiji/mortgage.html. In order to get more brothers on the draft, we need a way to get more brothers involved. Two ways were discussed:

1.      local gatherings near the graduates’ current city

2.      more activities at the house during football weekends

Robert Cook and Chris Williams are organizing regional gatherings.

The board needs to coordinate with the undergraduates and the parent’s club to define more graduate centric activities at the house in the fall. The parents already use the house as a place to gather on football weekends. With the newly completed backyard, and the functioning grill, it is now possible to have larger events. It would also be a good influence on undergraduates to have both parents and graduates around on football weekends.

James Brooks presented the idea of creating more frequent undergraduate publications by getting Chris Williams involved. Chris will do the setup on the final copy which will be publish electronically. He, and other graduates, will need to coordinate with the undergraduates to generate and finalize content. The undergraduates are being encouraged to do this and to use this as an opportunity to get updates from graduates as story ideas.
